WEIGHTS AND BALANCES 4 Experiment Day
Learning Objectives We will learn about how to make scale. We will learn about how to Record our results. We will learn about graphing our results.
We will make a spring scale using the equipment below. Look at the picture and set up the equipment.
Equipment Supplies or tools needed for a special purpose
For this experiment we need: Spring Stand Paper Pens Weights Clips Ruler
Draw a horizontal line next to the bottom of the spring. Write 0 grams next to the line.
horizontal A flat line.
vertical A line that stands up.
Add one 50 gram weight to the spring. Draw a horizontal line next to the bottom of the spring. Write 50 g next to the line.
Add another 50 gram weight to the spring. Draw a horizontal line next to the bottom of the spring. Write 100 grams next to the line.
Continue until you get to 250 grams.
When you get to 250 grams, take the paper off of the stand take out your ruler. Measure the distance between the lines on your paper. ________0 gram ________50 grams ________100 grams ________150 grams ________200 grams ________250 grams
Record your results in your book on page # 8 Weight (g) 20 grams 40 grams 60 grams 80 grams 100 grams Length (cm 5 cm 9 cm 15 cm 21 cm 22 cm
Graph A visual (to look) way to see the information from your experiment.
After your have recorded your results on page # 8, graph your results on page # 9 Length (cm) Weight (grams)
