Weekly Wonders Anticipate Awesome: Creative Kids
Welcome to Weekly Wonders! This Deck is designed to prompt wonder and curiosity for elementary, middle, and high school learners. This week’s Wonders also encourage students to Anticipate Awesome. They'll help build a classroom community that recognizes and draws out the potential in every student. Elementary Middle High Joe Whale, 9, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, kept getting himself into trouble for doodling once he'd finished his work during his classes at school, so his parents sent him to an afterschool art class to channel his creative passion. Michael Platt had to give up a lot of his favorite activities after he was diagnosed with epilepsy, but he found another hobby that he loved—baking cupcakes. Three years ago, when he was just 11, Michael turned his passion into Michaels Desserts. Teenage artist Zayd Menk believes that in a perfect world, there’d be no waste. Motivated by his belief in a circular economy—one where used items are transformed into something new and useful rather than thrown away—he creates intricate art from found objects.
