ROOT ONE: INTER • Latin • Jointly, between, among
INTERSTITIAL • Definition: situated in the space between things/parts • Example in a sentence: The interstitial spaces between the radio stations buzzed with static.
INTERLOCUTION • Definition: dialogue, conversation • Example in a sentence: The interlocution between the characters was passionate and full of anger.
INTERLOPER • Definition: an intruder- can be taken literally or figuratively • Example in a sentence: Our neighbor was a true interloper– always peeking over the fence and asking us nosy questions. • The man was an interloper in the new land.
INTERSPERSE • Definition: to scatter/place at intervals • Example in a sentence: As he performed the magic trick, he interspersed the two chosen cards into the deck.
INTERIM • Definition: an intervening time/interval OR a temporary solution/agreement • Example in a sentence: In the interim, we decided to make our own set of rules.
