Weekly Reports HELPFUL: Tues. 7/23 –Winter Garden, CA Local 3300, met with Business Manager Triplett and the negotiation committee to discuss and go over our proposals. We then met with Management of Stuckmotor Company. We continued the negotiations on non-economics that we had started the week before. The company’s main issue with regards to non-economics is a tobacco-free plant (no chewing or smoking). The union’s main issue is a union security clause; they now have a maintenance of membership. Wed. 7/24 – Winter Garden, CA Local 3300, continued with negotiations on non-economics. The main issues continue to be a tobacco-free plant (management) and union security clause (union). We did, however, reach agreement on several other issues, including training for employees, nonclosure agreement and leave of absence for union activity (full-time officer). Additional meetings were scheduled for July 31, and August 1 & 2.

He said they were working on it now, and it should be mailed in two weeks. Called Local 4000 and talked with President Brown. He said the paperwork was done on the Per Capita, and they were all getting together this weekend to get the check written. I asked them to call me the day the Per Capita is mailed.

HELPFUL: Meeting in Zellwood at Local 7000 with Business Manager Blue on the strategies for moving forward the AT&T Broadband Verizon campaigns. Decided to start interviewing more temporary organizers and schedule housecalling training.

Weekly Reports NOT HELPFUL: Early Travel to the Sacramento Airport for flight to Seattle. Southwest Airlines Flight 731 departing at 8: 35 a. m. Arriving Seattle at 10: 30 a. m. In Seattle met with Icky Schwartz about organizing campaign. HELPFUL: Traveled to Seattle to meet with Local 4000 concerning the possibility of mounting a Verizon campaign with Icky Schwartz, Local 4000 organizer. Traveled with Schwartz to Whidbey Island area to visit the AT&T Wireless and Verizon locations. Both are multi-building, campus settings. Probably over 1, 000 potential members in each location. Explained they would be difficult campaigns due to the size and setting. Asked whether Local 4000 was willing to devote manpower to this campaign. Seems limited resources are available, and so far no contacts have been made with workers inside, although it has been recommended to do so several times.

Weekly Reports HELPFUL: Monday, July 8. Picked up lease car from repair shop. Worked on results of a survey sent out to 900 P. U. Gas employees. Only 53 were returned, and the survey results were as expected. Serious consideration will be given to discontinuing the campaign in the Western Region of P. U. Gas territory. Contacted by L. U. 4700 Outside Organizer Seymore Glass about a new small contractor, Over-the-Line, who may be willing to sign an agreement. This contractor is just starting out and wants to pay LINECO for his men. Discussed creating a separate agreement since the contractor is working in an area where no other union contractors are working. House called in the p. m. four P. U. Gas employees. No cards signed. All expressed concerns about the company finding out.

Weekly Reports NOT HELPFUL: Met with VOC of Onron Energy in Blue Sky, Montana HELPFUL: Wednesday, August 1, 2007 — Met with the VOC from Onron Energy in Blue Sky, Montana, to discuss and review the organizing of Onron Energy. We will be filing for an election next Tuesday with Onron. Representatives from Local 8000, 8500 and 9000 were in attendance at this meeting. Campaign is going very well. There are 552 cards collected for the outside group, and the VOC believes we are at the 65% number of cards collected.

Weekly Reports NOT HELPFUL: I met with Local 8000’s organizers to discuss ULPs. HELPFUL: I met with Local 8000’s organizers (Larry, Curley and Mo) and the local’s attorney (I. Winnum). We went over the Sparky Electric case. Sparky has asked the NLRB to expedite the case, because Sparky has the job at UCLA and they know they cannot man it if the local continues the ULPs. Sparky has shut down its hiring to try to find out who are the salts in their employment. Winnum liked our ULPs and said they should hold up.
