Week Beginning th Monday 7 January 2019 Epiphany
Week Beginning th Monday 7 January 2019 Epiphany refers to God’s Selfrevelation, as well as to the revelation of Jesus, as His Son.
Monday 7 th January 2018 This Sunday was the Epiphany, the celebration of Christ as the Son of God. An epiphany (from the ancient Greek ἐπιφάνεια, epiphaneia, "manifestation, striking appearance") is an experience of sudden and striking realization. Western churches generally celebrate the Visit of the Magi as the revelation of the Incarnation of the infant Christ, and commemorate the Feast of the Epiphany on 6 th January. In many of the Orthodox Churches, the Epiphany is their Christmas day.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Isaiah 60: 1 -3 A moments Reflection v Have you ever felt the need to follow/do something? v Have you ever experienced a moment of revelation or discovery of something new?
Let us Pray God of wonder, help us to have as much faith as the wise men, who followed your star, to find Jesus. Lead us down the right paths and help us to recognise Jesus in the people that we meet, as we travel through life. Amen.
