HOW TO TAKE LECTURE NOTES? ■ Learning to take notes effectively and efficiently takes time. Prepare before taking notes ■ Read the text assignment before class. – Can build up some background about the topic – Will give you the opportunity to become familiar with the main topics that will be presented – Review the notes that you took during the last class meeting

PLAGIARISM • “An act of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author’s work as one’s own, as by not crediting the original author. ”

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM • The following are considered plagiarism: ü turning in someone else’s work as your own ü copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit ü failing to put a quotation in quotation marks ü giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation ü changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit ü copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not
