Example Dear Diary, 500 BCE This morning I was up as soon as the sun started to rise so I could help my father harvest the field. Although I felt tired, I enjoyed helping my family with lots of different jobs, Firstly, I started off feeding the cows and sheep, before the grain had to be separated and the seeds were ground into flour using a stone grinder. After that, I picked berries, cleaned the stables and then collected firewood. I was exhausted! Every man and child in the village was involved in this apart from the leader. He spent the day training some of the chosen men to get them ready to fight and he also checked that rules were being followed. My mother used the earthenware vessels to grind and make flour then she made food for our dinner by milking the cows and making bread and cheese. She also looked after my younger sister. After I finished in the fields, I had to watch the cows and sheep to check that no one stole or hurt them and then I helped mother to clean the house. I finally got a few minutes to play my board game where you roll dice and then move glass pieces. Even though the whole day was very tiring, I do enjoy eating the crops that I have helped farm. I need to go now and put the cows and sheep back inside their pens quickly so I can listen to stories around the fireplace! What features can you Until next time, see? Thomas
