Schedule and Timetables Today (after this briefing) 19: 30 Race pack pick-up by Team Manager only Your race package includes: • Helmet stickers (3 x) • Bike sticker (1 x) • Body decals (4 x) - both arms and both legs - do not cut off the WTS logo • Accreditation Card – this will be required at ALL TIMES to access venue and athletes lounge

Check-In Procedures Bike Check - before entering Athletes Lounge • • ALL Team Members must check in together Refer to 5. 2 & 5. 3 in Competition Rules Handle bars with clip-ons Wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) • Labeled spare wheels collected at bike check and returned to athletes lounge • Disc brakes are now legal and spare wheels with disc brakes may be placed at the Wheel Station • Bike frame • Helmet
Check-In Procedures Bike Check - before entering Athletes Lounge • Saddle position (-5 cm ≤ Men & -2 cm ≤ Women) Random 25% Approved exceptions on ITU website https: //www. triathlon. org/uploads/docs/itu_sport_elite_bike_saddle_ rule_exceptions_updated_20180327. pdf • Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the Head Referee up until 10 minutes from the end of this Athlete’s Briefing • Mechanic service available
Check-In Procedures Athletes’ Lounge • ALL Team Members must check in together! ID CHECK FOR EVERY ATHLETE! (Please bring your ID) • Uniform and race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers) – photos taken of each uniform Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! • Body marking check (both arms, both legs) • Timing chip & Swim cap distribution for 1 st athlete • 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th team member will collect the timing chip & swim cap from the relay area • Athletes MUST be in the relay check in zone in time to collect chip and be ready
Check-In Procedures Transition Area • All Team members must check in together • The 4 th team member to leave their bike closer to the mount line • The bike must be racked in the first transition by the rear wheel and in the second transition by either wheel • Helmet check (only manufacturers’ logo!) • Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition • Running Shoes outside and in front of the box, helmet on the bike • To add any equipment to the bike, you must obtain approval from the Race Referee until 10 minutes after the end of the Coaches‘ Briefing.
The Course
The Course Swim 1 Laps of 300 m = 300 m Bike 2 Laps of 3. 5 km = 7. 0 km Run 1 laps of 1. 5 km = 1. 5 km
Pre-Start Procedure Athletes’ Introduction • 10 minutes before start - line-up at the Finish Line • Team will get introduced together • First Athlete • Jog to the pontoon • Select your position and stay behind the line! • Blocking two positions – immediate DSQ • 2 nd, 3 rd, 4 th Athletes: Stop at the relay zone and turn right into the Pre-Start/Relay Area
Start Procedure Athletes in position: • The start can be given any time the Head Referee announces “On Your Mark” • Electronic Horn Blast • The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA 1
False Start Procedure False start with many athletes: • Several horn blasts • Kayaks in front of you • Everyone goes back to her original start spot Valid start but with early starters: • If someone starts before the horn and every one else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA 1 During the time penalty the athlete cannot touch any race equipment
Swim Course • Today at 17: 00 ü Water temperature 18. 7 °C ü Air temperature 19. 2 °C ü Final decision 1 hour before race start • 1 laps (total distance of 300 m) – anti-clockwise Distance to the first turn buoy 120 m Pass yellow buoys on the left shoulder, red on the right • Swim behaviour will be closely monitored and recorded by water based and Video Review officials • Take wetsuit, cap, goggles to transition into the box
Swim Behaviour Monitoring Definition from the ITU CR 4. 1: • e. ) Athletes may sportingly maintain their own space in the water: • (i) Where athletes make accidental contact in the swim and then immediately afterwards move apart no penalty will be incurred; • (ii) Where athletes make contact in the swim, and an athlete continues to impede the progress of the other athlete without moving apart, this action will result in a time penalty; • (iii) Where athletes deliberately target another athlete to impede their progress, gain unfair advantage and potentially cause harm will result in disqualification and may be reported to ITU Arbitration Tribunal for potential suspension or expulsion.
Swim Behaviour Monitoring Definition from the ITU CR 4. 1: There will be additional boats and Technical officials deployed on the swim course to monitor athletes’ behaviour in this respect. • Infringements will be recorded and appropriate action will be taken dependent on the rules definition from the previous slide. • Please respect your fellow competitors and keep the race fair.

Transition • Individual bike racks • Last team member should place his bike closer to the mount line • All used equipment goes into your box • Running shoes in front of the box, helmet on the bike Failure to put equipment in box = 10 second penalty on run PB • Mount line at the end of the TA (GREEN LINE) • Dismount line at the beginning of TA (RED LINE)
Bike Course • 2 laps of 3, 5 km (total distance of 7. 0 km) • Don’t ride through transition • Flat, technical (3 180° turns) • 1 Wheel Station right after TA • Discard plastic bottles and litter in the Littering Zone (located directly after the Wheel Station) • Lapped athletes are out of the race
Neutral Wheels • Front 4 x 700 C • Rear 2 x 11 Cassette Shimano/SRAM 2 x 11 Cassette Campa

Run Course • 1 laps of 1. 5 km (total distance of 1. 5 km) • Aid Station and Littering Zone • 1 per lap (200 m after TA) • Sealed water • Discard bottles and litter in the Littering Zone as indicated by the following signs
Relay Zone • Prior to the relay exchange, the athletes will wait in the relay check in zone until the moment when the Technical official tells them to enter the relay zone. Athletes need to be present at the check in area. • It is athletes’ responsibility to be there, collect timing chip and be ready • The relay exchange from one team member to another will take place inside the „Relay Zone”
Relay Zone • The relay exchange is completed by the incoming athlete, using their hand to contact the body of the outgoing athlete within the relay zone • If the contact occurs outside the relay zone, both athletes must return to the relay zone and complete the exchange properly. • Keep both Feet behind the relay line • If the exchange is not completed inside the relay zone, the team will get a 10 second penalty

Run Penalty Box • Penalty box is for infringements in: Swim, TA 1, Bike, TA 2 and Run e. g. : swim conduct, mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own space, littering outside the littering zone, etc. • Location: Before entering the finish chute Information: letter) White board to show race numbers (and (Athletes need to read the board) • Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run • ANY member of the team can serve the penalty
Run Penalty Box • If you incur a penalty, you will find your number plus a letter code indicating the nature of the infraction: –D = Dismount Line Violation –M = Mount Line violation –L = Littering S = Swim Conduct E = Equipment Outside Box V = Other Violations For example: • 12 D…. athlete #12 received a time penalty for a dismount line violation • 2 x 12 ME…athlete #12 received 2 time penalties for mount line and equipment outside the box violations
Post Race Procedures • For Top 3 Teams: 1. TV/Flash Interviews 2. Medal Ceremony 3. Media “Mixed Zone” • All Team members of the first 3 teams are requested to wait in the Finish Area • Medal Presentation - protocol – within 5 minutes after the winner finishing • Please follow the ambush marketing rules • Dress “up” – coaches assistance needed
Ambush Marketing Rule • Ambush marketing is defined as: “Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to expose the sponsor logos larger then the approved sizes, and/or equipment or objects not provided by LOC or ITU. ” • The consequence for this behaviour is that the athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any • Please follow the ambush marketing rule
Post Race Procedures Anti-Doping Control • Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing. Team Medical Access • Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission. • Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate. Team Medical Doctors’ Meeting • After this briefing with Medical Delegate and LOC Doctor.
Coaches Areas Coaches wristbands will only be distributed to those coaches who’s National Federations registered them through the on-line system • They will have access to: • Athletes’ Lounge/Pre-Start/Recovery Area • Swim Start Area • Coaches Area (opposite PB)
Coaches Run Access • One coach per NF is allowed to have access on the site run course for 30 minutes from 09: 45 in a time when course is properly setup and secured. • Vests are provided to those coaches from the LOC. • All coaches will start at the same time from the same start point (meeting point) at Transition. • Coaches who require this access, must register with the technical officials following this briefing.
TV post race production • Go Pro cameras may be placed on two athletes bikes • Images will be used in the post race production, with credit given to the athlete carrying the camera • The camera will be mounted at the front or the back of the bike • Athletes will be selected by the ITU
Athletes Agreement • There has been a change in the procedure of filling the Athlete’s Agreement. • All Athletes will have to fill in their data on their Admin page of the ITU Website before competing in their first event, or if there is any change. • If you need logins please contact support@triathlon. org The reason for this change is to integrate the information of the athletes to the same database – which is not public – and to avoid any missing or inaccurate information.

Transfer to Leeds Key Facts • Departure: 10: 30 a. m. from Jury’s Inn • Possibility to load Bikes on the Lorry from 09: 00 a. m. • Bikes MUST be packed in Bike case (non-packed Bikes cannot be transported!) • Bike Case must be labeled with Athlete’s name and dropoff point in Leeds (Ibis Budget or Queen’s Hotel)
