Wednesday 17 th June 2020 WALT: write a description on the setting. WILF: - I can write about the setting of a story - I can use adjectives and similes in my writing. - I can use descriptive writing.
Before we begin Lets answer some questions … Discuss 1. Where was the story set? 2. What places did he travel to? 3. Where did he go in the end? 4. What places did he see on his way home?
Nimesh went to lots of different and exciting places But there is one thing he forgot to do! He didn’t describe where he went! Today you are going to describe one place he went to!!!
Before we start our task You need to choose a place he went to … Choose from one below Will you describe when we went under water with sharks! When he met the king with his tiger! When we chased some pirates! When he went into the cave and didn’t want to wake the dragon! When he went to the north pole! When we met the beautiful lady in the grass!
Once you have chosen your setting you now need to think of adjectives to describe it! Let’s do one together
What adjectives can you think of? (remember the power of 3) He went into the deep, blue and scary sea! There were big, gigantic and terrifying sharks! Can you think of some similes? The seaweed is as high as a mountain What adjectives can you think of?
Once you have your adjectives Its time to start writing about the setting. Make sure you write a long paragraph to describe every part of the setting! Good luck adventures!!!
Note for parents - Children must choose one setting from the story to describe - Ensure children use both adjectives and similes. - Ensure they write in full sentences. - Remember capital letters an full stops.
