Trusting God = Loving God

Ecclesiastes 1: 14– 18 (ESV) I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind. 15 What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be counted. 16 I said in my heart, “I have acquired great wisdom, surpassing all who were over Jerusalem before me, and my heart has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. ” 17 And I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind. 18 For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow. 14

The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. ” 17

Trusting God = Loving God

Solomon doesn’t point us to a Redeemer-God. He points us to the Sovereign God.

God is the Gospel God is the Good News.

Where is your happiness come from? Where is our help in all this vanity?

Psalm 121: 1 -3 (ESV) 1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.

John 3: 14 (ESV) 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

Psalm 121: 4– 8 (ESV) 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
