Jonah 1: 1 -3 3. The book of Jonah is one of 12 books of the Minor Prophets. 4. The purpose of the book is to engage the readers, both Jew and Gentile to think deeply of the compassionate character of God and to bring about self-reflection of their own compassion. 4 47
