Cove Space Access • Open collaborative shared desk space, conference rooms, commercial grade wireless internet access, a kitchenette, and eating areas • Gaining Fingerprint access • Check in with Kathe at the front desk during work hours (M -F, 8: 00 – 4: 00 PM) • Check-in Procedure: • Sign in at The Cove front desk until fingerprinted • Once fingerprinted, you must scan your finger on the interior door reader on the wall to the left of the front desk each time you visit • Important for both security and user data capture Be courteous of others sharing the space! Cove Labs – Notice • All prototyping work must be performed by the user upon receiving training on the laboratory equipment. • The Cove Laboratory technical staff does not perform design work or process development.
Cove Labs – General Steps to Lab Access 1) Schedule & attend safety/equipment training (Google form) 2) Sign safety documentation 3) Pay for daily, weekly, or monthly access 4) Reserve equipment on calendar 5) Schedule bioprinting for lab access (if not already in system) - Must be on your Wayfinder Team’s list
Cove Labs – Lab Fees for Wayfinder Personnel All fees are person. Each person must be a paid & trained lab user in order to work inside of the lab. Daily: $10 Weekly: $20 (seven consecutive days) Monthly: $50 (30 consecutive days) Locker rental: $60 (30 consecutive days)

Cycle Renewal & Graduation • Teams are admitted for one cycle (approx. 6 months) with the possibility of cycle renewal • Factors used to determine team’s renewal status include, but are not limited to: • • • Feedback from your formal reviews Your level of engagement Funding received The extent to which you achieve your set milestone goals The value we feel we are able to add to your team through the program The volume and composition of the other teams entering and exiting the admission pipeline • Output portfolio completion in order to graduate
Ei. R Network • The Experts-in-Residence (Ei. R) Network is a group of several hundred local business leaders who volunteer their time to support the development of the UCI Applied Innovation entrepreneurial ecosystem. • Engage with Ei. Rs during: • • Admissions process Program events (Pitch & Match, Showcase) Workshops Office hours Reviews Cove events As-needed advice (email wayfinder@uci. edu with request)
Ei. R Interaction • When interacting with Ei. Rs, • • Be professional and courteous Send quick follow-up after a connection Being flexible with Ei. Rs’ busy schedules Be appreciative. Keep in mind that Ei. Rs are volunteers who help our program because they believe in the mission and vision of Applied Innovation. Your access to them is a privilege, not a right • Use your own judgment when evaluating advice. You are not required to act on Ei. Rs’ recommendations • Notify program staff immediately if Ei. Pitch and Match Event • Purpose: Networking, matching with mentors • Schedule (Approx. ) • 4: 00 – 4: 30 pm Networking • 4: 30 – 5: 15 pm Team Pitches & Ei. R Introductions • 5: 15 – 6: 00 pm Networking (teams at tables) • Pitch Format – 2 mins (startup overview + specific help you are seeking) • No slides; one slide with your logo and brief description will project behind you • Get pitch help/practice! • ANTrepreneur Center (http: //antrepreneur. uci. edu/)
Initial Milestones - Instructions Teams will be paired up with Onboarding Ei. Rs At this time, please be prepared to go over your company’s needs that you would like to accomplish. • What areas of your startup are most pressing or need the most immediate work? • Give 3 -5 milestones that you intend to accomplish during this Wayfinder cycle. Be specific. Milestones should be ambitious while also being realistic and achievable for the time period. • Provide an action plan and timeline for accomplishing the above milestones. • Identify specific resources (including workshops, Ei. R connections, etc. ) that you will seek out to help you be successful in attaining your set milestones. Initial Milestones will be due to Program by April 9 th!
