Essential Requirements There are some requirements that must be met before starting any work on Watercare Networks. These include: • Access Activity Authority (AAA) • Job Safety and Workplace Environment Plan (JSWEP) No work shall commence until AAA/JSWEP sign-off has been obtained • Permits - Safe systems of work for managing the risks in certain circumstances such as: § Isolation – written document used for isolations § Confined Space Entry – controls access to these areas § Hot Work – controls the work that can cause fire or explosion IF you are unsure of permit requirements ASK !!

Fit for Work / Training and Competency Fit for Work Means that you are

Fit for Work / Training and Competency Fit for Work Means that you are physically and mentally able to perform your work in a way that does not compromise or threaten your own safety or health, or that of others. This includes being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Training and Competency Any person operating Plant or Machinery on a Watercare site MUST be trained and hold the relevant license.

Emergency Evacuation Fire Flood Earthquake Explosion Chemicals Bomb Threat Network sites can be anywhere the work is carried out – make sure an evacuation point is determined for each and every job at pre start stage If the evacuation siren sounds: 1. Make your work place safe. 2. Proceed, via the safest exit to the Evacuation Assembly Point – this will be determined at your pre–start assessment of each and every job: 3. Do not re-enter buildings or work areas when evacuating 4. Remain at the Assembly Point for a roll call. 5. Do not re-enter the site until the all-clear is given. 6. Obey all instructions of the emergency wardens or persons in charge of a site.

Incidents, Injuries, Near Misses & Hazards Incidents, Injuries & Near Misses: § § Make the scene safe, if it is safe for you to do so. Have the injury assessed by First Aider. Report the incident immediately to your Manager/ Supervisor If you require medical treatment, your Manager/Supervisor will arrange for you to see the appropriate medical services. Workplace Hazards: § § If it is unsafe – STOP! Reassess and make safe, if it is safe for you to do so. If it is not safe for you to make it safe, report the issue to your supervisor All hazards or unsafe conditions must be reported immediately to your Manager/Supervisor. We investigate all hazards, incidents and near misses to find out how the harm was caused and what must be done to prevent future incidents. Always ensure trenches have appropriate shoring and edge protection. - Biological – Working with Wastewater. Ensure you are immunised against Hepatitis A & B, Polio and Tetanus. Ensure you are wearing the appropriate face and hand protection - Gases / Fumes – Ensure you have and use a gas monitor/detector when working on a wastewater asset. Hazards include methane, hydrogen sulphide, volatile organic compounds, abnormal oxygen levels and explosive gases. Ensure you have the correct gas detector for the job you are doing.
