What is it? By definition: • Water pollution is when pollutants are directly/indirectly put into bodies of water CAUSES Chemicals Dumping illegally/legally Bathing Religious ceremonies Man-made materials Detergents Garbage (of all forms) VOC’s Plant and Animals

Affects Acid rain Toxic levels unsafe for animals and humans Can be fatal Poisoning Infectious diseases from drinking and bathing

Check the water In your home groups you will find a River of Water (DO NOT OPEN IT) • Shake it (GENTLY) • Write down what you see. Each bottle represents a river we’re looking at • Use the written clue that will help you figure out which river it is. NOW: Think about how it would feel if you had to bathe in this water. Drink it. Wash your clothes in it. What would you feel? Would you want to change it?
