States of Matter Solid Liquid Gas **Water is the only substance that can exist naturally in all 3 of these forms.
Water as a SOLID Water can exist in two forms of a solid. *Ice *Crystallization Examples of Ice forms: *ice cubes *hailstones Example of the Crystallization form: *Snowflakes
Water as a LIQUID Lakes Streams Oceans

Water Pollution How can water be polluted? *Littering *Oceans are polluted by oil on a daily basis usually from oil spills *Many industries and factories use freshwater to carry away waste from the plant and into rivers, lakes and oceans. They produce pollutants that are extremely harmful to people and the environment. *Water from storms can wash all kinds of stuff down drains and into our water supply.
Water Pollution How is polluted water cleaned? *Water in lakes, rivers, and streams often contain impurities and bacteria that make it unsafe for us to drink. To make the water safe to drink, we send the water to a waste water treatment plant to be cleaned.
Water Pollution What can you do to help keep our water clean? *Conserve water by turning off the tap when running water is not necessary *Be careful about what you throw down your sink. Don’t throw paints, oils or other forms of litter down the drain. *Don’t throw litter into rivers, lakes or oceans, and help clean up any litter you see on beaches or in rivers and lakes.
