Statement What could be possible intervention , how you will organize people to make them realize there should be access to water ?

It is one of the social movement Methodology: 1. Objective setting 2. Situational analysis - Historical background - How many people in there - What’s area covered in sufficient water(safe drinking and other) - what’s organization work there( Gos and Ngos) - Irrigation’s status

Methodology…. . . 3. Group formation - beneficiaries - critical mass - user’s group - focus group discussion 4. Co- ordination - local leader - service provider

Issues/problem o Increase of population - pull factor - push factor o Attached of the environment o Unequal distribution of water o Misuse of water

Issues/problem… o Politicize of water consumption o Lack of responsibility and accountability of Gov. o Discriminatory agreement/trety o Geographical structure o Not access to decision making ( local people)

How to create social movement ( organized people) ? Step 1 v Mass campaign( we should be respect their time ) - Choose the target area - Teach/ aware people about right to use of water( by local language if needed) - To share about existing Gov policy - To aware about existing weakness

How to… v Step 2 - Group formation based on social justice - To inform about distribution status of water - To form the committee of VDC level - To know about people’s view - To aware them what activities are right and what are wrong

How to… - To aware them , 1 st right holder are local people not allow to entrance private water distributor without permission - If private sector want to give water service they should be address local people’s need

How to… - Create pressure group ( influence to the gov to their need) - Aware them how to use water properly and what responsibilities for protection of water resources (forestation , lick age control, sanitation maintain etc) - Create community based organization - Ensure that how the people’s participation in decision making of water use (DAG )

How to… v Step 3 - To pressure the government (to change the policy) – minimize private sector water distributor - Develop community based water supply programme - To give responsibility and accountability of M/E activities by community( self monitoring process) - Gov. should be provide budget, technology and so on.

In Nepal Water supply Target Sufficient water supply all people in 2070 B. S. but only 65% people have water facility but only 55% irrigation( water supply) is available all over the country.
