We need to help children and adults who are not as fortunate as ourselves.
Did you know? • 2. 4 billion people live without good sanitation • Diarrhoea kills a child under 5 every 2 minutes – 15 children will have died during our assembly • 1 out of 3 people on this planet don’t have a toilet • 844 million people live without clean water • 31% of schools don’t have clean water
• Every minute a new-born baby dies because they have unclean water or an unsafe environment • Over 800 people a day die because they have no clean w water.
At Saint Blaise • At our school we have 12 toilets and 22 taps that help us to stay safe and well.
Water aid • Water aid was founded in 1981 • Since 1981 they have reached 24. 9 million people giving them clean water and 24 million people now have decent toilets
• Water aid reaches 220 people per hour and helps them to get clean water.
What do Water Aid do? • They have useful easy strategies to provide clean water for people in poverty.
• What do water aid do? • They help people build toilets. They are not glamorous but they do the job!
• Water aid supports schools with no water. They also spread the word about good hygiene.
What can we do to help? • Global goal number 6 is about bringing clean water to the world.
Maple’s ideas • St Blaise school want to raise £ 300 This will provide 5 toilets in the poorest parts of the world
