Watchmen THAT SEE… • Last time we touched watchmen taking up in prayer their responsibility to stand upon the walls of intercession of their sphere of influence by taking up their place before the Lord’s throne of grace in surrendering to God through selfless worship no matter the cost. • This week we will look and see what God’s individual created-responsibility for every one look like, and how to take that up in effective prayer and action without criticizing others!

Watchmen THAT look will SEE and prophecy… DEFINITION OF PROPHECY: The gift of prophecy is the supernaturally imparted ability to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and speak God’s mind or counsel. (Derek Prince) PURPOSE OF PROPHECY: • To EDIFY: to build up, strengthen, make more effective • To EXHORT: to stimulate, encourage, admonish • To COMFORT: to cheer up. Prophecy overcomes two of Satan’s most common attacks: CONDEMNATION & DISCOURAGEMENT.

Watchmen THAT look will SEE and prophecy… • All prophecy comes from God through the Holy Spirit, but it operates differently in different people. – Nataf - 'to let drop like rain'. – Massa - 'hand of the Lord' that releases the 'burden of the Lord'. – Nabiy - 'flowing forth' or 'bubbling forth like a fountain'.

What is a prophet? THE PURPOSE OF THIS SERIES IS NOT TO FOCUS ON TRYING TO BE PROPHETIC BUT RATHER STEPPING INTO THE LIGHT OF GOD’S WORD TO SHOW A SIMPLE PATHWAY TO ENCOUNTER GOD AND MAKE HIM KNOWN • Training prophets will have you end up with a nonprofitable organization. • Training lovers/seekers after God will produce a passionate PERSEVERING people consumed to please their God alone, prophesying His Word without fear of man.

What is a prophet? • A nabiy prophet is a person who speaks on behalf of a superior. Biblical prophets spoke on behalf of God, their superior. • Their words originated with Him. • A nabiy is a speaker who declares the word that God has given to him. • Abraham (Gen. 20: 17) and Moses (Dt. 34: 10). He planted His Word in their hearts and mouths and they in turn declared it to the people.

What is a seer? • Within the overall realm of the prophet lies the particular and distinctive realm of the SEER. • All true seekers are prophets, but not all prophets are seers. • Seer describes a particular type of prophet who receives a particular type of prophetic revelation or impartation from the Lord. • The Old Testament uses 2 words to refer to a seer: – Ra'ah literally means 'to see' particularly in the sense of seeing visions. Also 'to gaze' or 'to look upon' and 'to perceive'. (VERB) – Chozeh literally means 'a beholder in vision' and can also be translated as 'gazer'. (PERSON)

Understanding the prophetic anointing in the Bible • The prophecies of the Old Testament foreshadowed Christ. • The prophecies of the New Testament had always to declare that in Christ all the prophecies of the Bible have been fulfilled.

Understanding the NEED for the prophetic anointing • FRESH OIL - Ps 92: 10…. . fresh anointing oil is what we need if we are going to be able to fulfill that which the Lord has already spoken of so clearly. • YOKE BE BROKEN - Is. 10: 17…burdens are removed and yokes are broken and destroyed so the word the Lord has spoken can be fulfilled. • HEALING - Acts 10: 38…. the anointing carries the power to do good and bring healing.

VARIATIONS OF PROPHETIC GRACE 1. Dreamers / Visionaries • Move primarily in the realm of dreams and visions. • Area of release: A large public platform. Smaller settings such as their local church. Business, family or home group. Primarily private in nature, limited to their personal prayer closet and shared only with family members or, as occasion permits a few other people. – Large or small every dreamer and visionary has a sphere of influence God wants them to touch. – – • PURPOSE: To awaken the people of God to the spirit realm.

VARIATIONS OF PROPHETIC GRACE 2. Proclaim Corporate Purpose • Area of release: – Rarely or never prophesy over individuals in personal ministry. – Especially gifted to discern the times and the seasons. – Give clarity to the overall direction and purpose of the Body of Christ – Emphasis is not on the individual, personal prophecies • Purpose: – To enable and encourage the Church to rise up into full maturity, e. g. Paul.

VARIATIONS OF PROPHETIC GRACE 3. Proclaim God’s heart standards • They proclaim God's heart standards for His people at all times. • Area of release: – Challenge the church by calling for holy thoughts, intentions, motives, and convictions in every arena of life. • Their PURPOSE is to – Usher in the fruit of the Spirit – Nurture the character of Christ and – Promote purity and holiness.

VARIATIONS OF PROPHETIC GRACE 4. Proclaim social responsibilities/actions • Area of release: – Though often a thankless job, it is a vitally needed ministry. – Some are prophetic psalmists giving their lives to the ministry of the poor. – They put feet to our faith by taking the prophetic to the streets in practical visible ways, bringing Christ near to people. – Call church to care for widow, orphan, the poor, oppressed and prisoner – Speak on behalf of those who have no power and no champion for their cause. • The PURPOSE – To establish righteousness and justice. (To make right what is wrong). – Amos in the Old Testament (Amos 5: 24).

VARIATIONS OF PROPHETIC GRACE 5. Administrative rulers • Area of release: – Forefront: Government, political arena, legislation. – Background: Wise counsel to rulers, influencing leaders. • Purpose: – Give direction/counsel. • Joseph moved in the seer realm as an interpreter of dreams, but used it to give counsel to the Pharaoh. Daniel to the Babylonian king. Moses to Pharaoh and Israelites.
