Solid Waste This category of waste is also called non-regulated medical waste. Solid waste is just general waste. Regulated Medical Waste (RMC) This category has material that is potentially infectious. It is also known as red bag waste or biohazardous waste. This type of waste is waste that may be contaminated by body fluids or other potentially infectious materials. In the 1980’s incineration was the most popular way of disposing RMC, but as later found out, it emitted mercury and other toxins in the air.
