Poetry Analysis: Introduction I. Intro. – State your songs/poems and song writers/poets Give a paraphrasing of the poems and what each is about Perhaps tell the reader why they were chosen. However- avoid using “I” or “me” or “you” in your writing. Thesis: List three major areas that you are going to focus on when exploring your poems.
Body Paragraphs II. All three areas should have the following: A. Examples of what you are saying is part of your poems. (Quotes and paraphrasing) B. How the examples add to/detract from the poems and their deeper meaning. C. Any allusions, personal inferences, historical references, etc. D. Transitions between paragraphs and ideas
Conclusion Paragraph n III. Checklist § Restate your thesis § Explain the broader implications of the songs or poems to the reader or humanity § End with a final theme or thought about the poems.
