Warm-Up 8/26/14 Solve in notebook: A typical can of soda holds 355 m. L. If this amount of Coca. Cola weighs 301. 4 g, what is its density?
Density Activity Measure the density of five liquids. Liquids: Water Corn Syrup Vegetable Oil Dish Soap Nail Polish Remover
Procedure 1)For each liquid, need one cup. 2) Mark the cup at 0. 9 cm, 2. 0 cm, and 2. 8 cm from the bottom. 3) Label the cup with the liquid that you will pour into it. 4) Measure and record the mass of the cup.
Procedure 5) Pour the liquid up to the bottom line (line 1) 6) Measure the mass of the liquid. 7) Repeat steps 5 and 6 for line 2 (middle line) and line 3 (top line) 8) Place your cup with the liquid in the designated area.
Note Observe safety in the lab Are you recording the mass of the just the liquid or the liquid AND the cup?
Homework The volume at each of the lines are as follows: Line 1 – 10 m. L Line 2 – 25 m. L Line 3 – 40 m. L Calculate the density using the mass measurement at each line.
