COUNTER-ARGUMENT On the other hand, some individuals believe that athletes are prime dollar receivers and well deserve the large salaries they are paid. As stated by Mr. Singletary, “The players are no more selfish than the owners who pay their salaries” (961). The owners’ arrogance and greediness prove that the players also expect to be put on pedestals and paid outrageously.

REBUTTAL To restate my own claim, athletes are simply too over paid for their own good. “Athletes are paid far too much for what they do, but I believe that society is more at fault for this than the athletes themselves are” (963). This is stated well and proven well when athletes cannot show respect toward their own fans and treat all respectfully and kindly.

CONCLUSION Because athletes are so overly paid, the entire establishment should be reviewed. With this review, those salaries should be split and paid out to those common men that protect our lives and living. This is the only way that our economy can truly replenish itself and show good cause for earnings.
