 WANIC classes are offered to students in the school districts in Northeast King

WANIC classes are offered to students in the school districts in Northeast King County (including NSD)—no transportation Satellite Classes are under the WANIC umbrella but are classes offered ONLY at BHS/WHS/IHS/NCHS– limited transportation provided WANIC OR SATELLITE?

 Pick up a yellow Career and College Readiness Satellite Application in the Counseling

Pick up a yellow Career and College Readiness Satellite Application in the Counseling Office. Fill out application completely, including the transportation form (only for classes at IHS, WHS, NCHS), pick up an attendance profile from attendance office and turn in everything to the box outside Mr. Dawson’s office by April 3, 2019. Apply for the class you want and we’ll worry about bell schedule conflicts later. When completing your course selection form for your BHS classes next year, please indicate what Satellite class you are applying to on the form. Fill out the correct number of boxes on the form for a full schedule (including Satellite class boxes). Then use the Satellite Class code from the selection form when completing your online registration for your BHS classes. You will be notified by district letter later in spring if you are accepted. HOW TO APPLY TO SATELLITE (NSD) PROGRAMS?

Attend a site visit/information session if applying to Digi. Pen. Go HERE to RSVP. Contact teacher or Career Counselor if having trouble attending site visit/information session at Digi. Pen. You will be notified via email from WANIC if accepted. When filling out your course selection form for your BHS classes, you will also indicate that you are applying to a WANIC class on your form. Fill out the correct number of boxes (6 boxes for a 3 credit WANIC class, 4 boxes for 2 credit WANIC class) on form for a full schedule. Use the WANIC class code listed on the form when completing your online registration for BHS classes.  Auto Technology: Morning or Afternoon Can be up to a 3 year course

Auto Technology: Morning or Afternoon Can be up to a 3 year course of study. 3 credits per year. Sophomores and 1 st year Auto Shop juniors take the PM class (3 credits). 2 nd year juniors and all seniors take the AM class(3 credits) The AM class also offers English 11 or 12 (1. 0) credit and Lab Science/3 rd Credit of Science credit (1. 0) The PM class offers Lab Science/3 rd Credit of Science credit (1. 0) Up to 26 college credits available if a B or better is earned Paid internships available, scholarships available Preference for Post Secondary programs Multiple ASE Industry Certifications available Composites Engineering 1 credit course. Up to 5 college credits available.  Teaching Academy 2 credit course, up to 5 college credits Offers the “Total

Teaching Academy 2 credit course, up to 5 college credits Offers the “Total Teaching” Experience. Gain experience and training involved in becoming a teacher Participate in the inner workings of the classroom, school and district through interviews, shadowing, and interning. Intern with a mentor teacher at an elementary school Students will also earn the state STARS certification required to work in licensed childcare centers. BHS SATELLITE CLASSES CONT’D

IB Design and Technology SL/HL Typically taken as a 2 credit class for BHS students, up to 5 college credits available Recommended to be seniors only but also available to juniors Project-based course Through a series of college-level projects (product design, building design/urban planning, and graphic design), individual portfolios will be developed for college applications. Exploration of the process and tools used in industrial (products) design including an indepth look at human factors and ergonomics, CAD/CAM, material science and sustainable design. Work with industry partners to apply concepts Learn basics of material selection, manufacturing processes and techniques, production systems, clean technology, and green design. Health Science Careers (a. k. a. Medical Professionals Academy) 3 credit class, up to 24 college credits available Offers Lab Science/3 rd credit of science (1. 0) and Health credit (. 50), if needed Opportunity to become Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the end of the year 100% employment rate as CNA’s upon graduation, if that route is taken by student. Health care field exploration Anatomy and physiology, Medical terminology Infection control, patient care Preventative and restorative care Electronic charting Clinical internship/shadowing at Harborview Medical Center at the end of year. Welding and fabrication 1 credit course, 2 periods, up to 7 college credits available Training in oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, arc welding, MIG welding, and TIG welding.  Aviation: Introduction to Flight 1 credit course Exploratory course into the aviation careers.

Aviation: Introduction to Flight 1 credit course Exploratory course into the aviation careers. Learn the principles of flight, aircraft and aircraft systems, flight environment, meteorology, radio communications, flight planning, aircraft performance, navigation and more.
