Walter Rane, pintor e ilustrador americano, nasceu em National City, Califórnia, em 8 de setembro de 1949 e cresceu em Chula Vista, Califórnia. De 1971 a 1974, estudou Artes Plásticas no “Art Center College of Design”, em Los Angeles. Lá ele encontrou a abordagem tradicional de desenho e pintura que desejava. Biography: Walter Rane, American painter and illustrator, was born in National City, Califórnia, on September 8, 1949, and grew up in Chula Vista, Califórnia, USA. From 1971 to 1974 he studied Fine Arts at the “Art Center College of Design”. in Los Angeles. There he found the traditional approach to drawing and painting that he desired. This approach combined with an emphasis on the human figure that remains central to his art. After graduating, Rane worked as a free-lance magazine illustrator in New York for 21 years (1974 -1995). His clients included the Rockefeller Group, Grummond Corporation, Readers Digest, Eddie Bauer, Time Life, Random House, National Geographic, among others. Gowanus Canal, 2008

Rane moved with his family to Salem, Oregon, became a member of “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” and focused his work to illustration paintings of biblical themes. These themes continue to be an important part of his work, along with still lifes, landscapes and scenes of contemporaty life. He exhibited on “Sailor’s Valentine Gallery” in Nantucket, “May County Art League”, “Stable Fine Arts Gallery” and “Museum of Church History and Art” in Salt Lake City. His work is part of permanent collections in the “Museum of Church History and Art” in Salt Lake City, Utah; in “Springville Museum of Art” in Springville, Utah and “Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista”, Virginia.
