Walk In Love Ephesians 5: 1 -2 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Jesus Walked In Love • He was an offering – He went willingly John 10: 17 -18 – Because He loved His Father & His sheep John 10: 15 • He was a sacrifice – – – Cost Him something Philippians 2: 5 -8 It wasn’t easy Hebrews 5: 7 -8 Because He loves His Father & us • His sacrifice was a sweet-smelling aroma – – – It was pleasing to God Hebrews 10: 5 -10 Purpose of His life John 8: 29 Because He loves His Father & His children

Walk In Love Towards God • Must offer ourselves to God willingly – God does not force us Ex. 19: 5; Joshua 24: 15 – Jesus calls us to follow Mark 8: 34 – Make His will your will

Walk In Love Towards God • Must offer ourselves to God willingly • Must involve a sacrifice – David would not offer God “that which costs me nothing” 2 Samuel 24: 24 – Our reasonable sacrifice Romans 12: 1

Walk In Love Towards God • Must offer ourselves to God willingly • Must involve a sacrifice • Must be dedicated to pleasing God – Cain & Abel both made sacrifices to God – Must be based on faith – Cannot please God in our own way Matthew 7: 21 -23 – Must offer acceptable sacrifices 1 Peter 2: 4 -5

Walk In Love Towards One Another • Must be willing to give ourselves to one another – Spend and be spent 2 Corinthians 12: 15 – “I’m at your disposal” – [Love] does not seek it’s own 1 Corinthians 13: 5

Walk In Love Towards One Another • Must be willing to give ourselves to one another • Must make sacrifices for each other – It’s a command Ephesians 5: 21 – Without complaining

Walk In Love Towards One Another • Must be willing to give ourselves to one another • Must make sacrifices for each other • Must seek to please one another – – Golden Rule Matthew 7: 12 Bear with scruples of the weak Romans 15: 1 Forego eating meats 1 Corinthians 8 Don’t focus on “Me” Philippians 2: 4

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5: 1 -2
