About the Course A E 3 course that is designed for anyone with a keen interest in Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy 1 Years course designed for students who want to progress onto a L 1 Hair or Beauty qualification Practical & Assignment based course that introduces the basics to Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy Maths & English are a compulsory element to this course, GCSE grades and BKSB results will determine what level Functional Skills or GCSE you will complete
Hair & Beauty Units: Create your own Hair & Beauty Image – (Theme – interview for a job in hair or beauty) Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector Care and hygiene in the salon Communication skills Introduction to the use of tools and equipment Personal care and hygiene Paint your own nails Care for your own skin Care for your own hands Apply own Make-up Blow-dry and finish your own hair Shampoo and condition your own hair
What is needed to complete the course. You will need to first work on yourself & then be assessed (practically tested) on yourself for the first two terms and the last term you will work on each other this will aid you in getting ready for progression to level 1 hair or beauty. To pass your assessments you will need to be wearing your full uniform, hair tied up, no nail extensions or gel polish, no eyelash extensions, no jewellery (except a small pair of studs) and behave in a professional manor. Any face piercings need to be either replaced with a clear bar, covered with a plaster or removed.
The Referral Process – This is a supportive measure and is in place to aid you in completing the course you have enrolled on. You will be placed on referral for the following reasons Attendance drops below 90% Assignment work is not being completed in your theory lessons You are continually late to lessons or a specific lesson You do not wear your full uniform to practical lessons You do not bring your kit to practical lessons You continually use poor language or are rude to members of staff or other students in the group Non of the above be will be tolerated and is a sign of unprofessionalism
Kits , Uniform & Personal Presentation You will need to purchase a Hair & Beauty uniform & kit. (Approx. cost £ 300) , consumables £ 40 Your hair will need to worn up and off your face for all Beauty practical lessons No Jewellery except 1 small pair of studs No Nail extensions or nail polish/gel for practical lessons No Eyelash extensions for practical lessons
PPE In We follow government guidelines and will keep all staff and students up to date Mask Visors Social distancing
What happens next? If you feel that this is the course for you, we will complete a 11 interview with you. We will need to gain some background information to help identify any medical, mobility or DDA conditions that you could need support with. You will be sent an offer letter that you need to accept and we will also send you details of a taster normally held at the end of June / beginning of July.
