Volunteer Training � Welcome to Center School. Volunteers are central to our community and the work we do with our students. However, while we welcome volunteers we work with the Board of Education to keep all of our children safe here at school. In order to follow the BOE policies and regulations we ask that you read the following information carefully. � Tips, Notes, and Reminders ◦ Remember little eyes and ears are everywhere! ◦ Remember you are a model. ◦ Maintain behavioral expectations consistent with school expectations. ◦ All of our students are unique. Please embrace and respect their differences. ◦ Give children a chance the problem solve on their own. Resist the urge to rescue.

Cont… Give positive feedback that highlights effort and is specific. Ask questions when you are unsure of directions. Be flexible, your job may change. In case of emergency be calm and follow the directions of the closest staff member. Respect the privacy of all children including your own.

Forms � � � � � Parent Volunteer Information Parents wishing to volunteer at Center School must complete the volunteer forms found on the district website www. brookfieldps. org. Select the FORMS and Documents icon. Form A will ask you to choose Tier I or Tier II volunteer status. Parents who want to be a PTO volunteer, classroom volunteer, or field trip volunteer you should choose Tier II. Parents who want to volunteer only for CES Play Day can choose Tier I. Clearance through the numerous background checks will take time. Please be patient and be sure to submit forms at least 4 -6 weeks before any Tier II volunteer activity may be scheduled. All volunteers must complete Form A (1240) and Form B (1240) annually. Tier II volunteers must also complete an Authorization for Release of Information for DCF CPS Search.
