VOLLEYBALL RULES
Volleyball is played with six people on a court. At Jamestown teams are determined by the number of students in a class.

The game starts with a serve.
The only team that can score a point is the serving team. 1 2 3 server 6 9 5 8 4 7
A point is scored if the opponents fail to return the ball.
A point is scored if an opponent touches the net.
A point is scored if an opponent hits the ball illegally: lift, double hit, push, or throw. Double hit. Her hands are apart. Lift open hand throw push
A point is scored if an opponent hits the ball to the ceiling and it goes over the net. Serving team
A point is scored if the nonserving team has more than three hits.
A point is scored if an opponent hits the ball two times in a row.
The opponents gets the ball if the server serves the ball into the net.
The non serving team gets the ball if the server steps over the line.
When the non serving team gets the ball it is called a side out and everyone rotates (moves to the next position on the court) When the non serving team gets the ball they earn a chance to serve. They do not earn a point.
A completed game is when one team earns fifteen points and is two points ahead of the other team. 15 to 14 is not a complete game. 16 to 14 is a complete game.
Sometimes games are played on a time limit and whichever team is ahead at the end of the game wins.
A team can hit the ball three times or less before sending the ball over the net.
If two players from the same team contact the ball at the same time, it counts as one hit and either player can hit the ball. This team can hit the ball two more times
If two players on opposite sides contact the ball at the same time it does not count as a hit and either player can hit the ball again. Each team can have three more hits.
If a team hits the ceiling with the ball and it comes down to their own side, a different player may hit the ball. ceiling
A player may go out of bounds to play a ball.
If the ball lands on the line it is considered in bounds.
If the ball hits the net and goes over on a volley play continues.

The Serve • Hold the ball waist high in front of the hitting hand. • Step forward while swinging the hitting hand backward. • Drop the ball as contact is made with the heel of your hand. • Follow through up.
