Reminders: • Everyone in attendance will be muted once the meeting starts. • If you want to comment, you will need to unmute yourself. I will try to manage the conversations to make sure everyone has the opportunity to speak out. • Feel free to submit thoughts via the chat and hopefully one of our OSAA staff members will be monitoring that.
Agenda: Practice Guidance/Protocols • Camps • Summer Open Gyms • Policy regarding practice/competition during temporary school closures • Pre-Practice Screening – temperature checks, recording those present for contact tracing • Sport/Activity Specific Hygiene protocols (handwashing, hand sanitizer, shower following, washing clothes, etc. ) • Face coverings guidance/requirements – coaches and participants • No sharing of equipment between students (towels, clothing, shoes, sports-specific equipment, water bottles, etc. ) • Cleaning equipment, including balls, between workouts and/or use by another individual • Sport Specific Drills/Modifications – limited participants, etc.
Purpose: • To develop a set of recommendations that we can present to the OSAA Executive Board to help our membership schools with guidance and a comprehensive set of guidelines specific to volleyball. • What we develop and recommend will be impacted by the decisions of other entities - the situation continues to evolve and we should be prepared for changes to occur.
What we know today: • All membership schools are in a Moratorium-like restrictions until May 25, regardless to some counties reopening soon. • The OSAA Executive Board is meeting on May 20 to discuss what role the OSAA should play throughout the summer (after May 25).
What we can anticipate: • The NFHS/SMAC and the OSAA/SMAC will be issuing medical guidance soon. Medical recommendations carry BIG WEIGHT with decision makers. • Not every sport will have the same reopening timelines.
Meeting #2 Focus Question: With the new camp guidelines, do you believe it is possible to run a youth or high school volleyball camp? Team camps?
Meeting #2 Focus Question: Hygiene protocols- What would those look like at practices? How would the safety of students be ensured? Start with 10 students allowed to 25 students allowed. Specific drill modifications? What would that look like? Facemasks? Gloves?
Meeting #2 Focus Question: Pre/post practice hygiene needs? Any protocols from school districts being discussed?
Future Meeting Dates: • Monday, June 1 (4: 00 pm – 5: 15 pm) • Monday, June 8 (4: 00 pm – 5: 15 pm) • Monday, June 15 (4: 00 pm – 5: 15 pm) • As needed through June
