Aim • For newly appointed Vocational Tutors to be aware of their purpose, responsibilities, targets and methods to achieve these
Objectives: As a result of the training day VTs will: • Understand each of the duties and responsibilities within their job description • Identify how the role of VT fits meets the needs of learners and the Common Inspection Framework • Follow company quality working processes • Access sources of support in their new roles • Write SMART targets for learners • Have evaluated own current skill level and used this to develop a personal action plan for their first three months in post
Key Questions in the Common Inspection Framework • • • How well do learners achieve? How effective are teaching, training and learning? How are achievement and learning affected by resources? How effective are the assessment and monitoring of learning? How well do the programmes and courses meet the needs and interests of learners? • How well are learners guided and supported? • How effective are leadership and management in raising achievement and supporting all learners?
The purpose of the Individual Learning Plan For the organisation – to ensure teaching is effective and that learner’s needs are met - to recognise and record non-accredited achievement for quality assurance Individual Learning Plan For the tutor – to be able to plan effectively to meet individuals as well as group needs For the learner - to be clear about their learning goals and their progress and achievement

Specific goals provide: A clear outcome a clear range a clear situation or purpose I will be able to - use capital letters for peoples’ names - read the front page of the newspaper - add three 2 digit numbers for the members of my family to summarise the news to check the hours I have worked
