Vmodal + not ( «не …» ) Модальные глаголы с отрицанием “not” имеют сокращенную форму. Eg. I can’t (can not) speak English well. He couldn’t (could not) skate well. She mustn’t (must not) cross the river. You shouldn’t (should not) come home late. В конструкции “be able to” not сокращается с формой глагола “be”. Eg. He isn’t (is not) able to speak English well. You aren’t (are not) able to speak English well. He wasn’t (was not) able to speak English well. You weren’t (were not) able to speak English well. Но! I am not able to speak English well. You won’t (will not) be able to speak English well.
