An Education At the age of six, she was sent to the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Roehampton, England. Her later education Vivien completed in Europe. At 18 she enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
Marriage At 19 she married barrister Leigh Holman, whose name she used to create her stage name. A year later she had a daughter, Suzanne.
The Beginnings of a Career Vivien was offered a small part in her first film “Things Are Looking Up”(1935). She played a school girl and had only one line, but it was a start. In 1937, Vivien Leigh left her husband for Lawrence Olivier.
Big Break Success came when she got the part as Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind (1939).
