What values do visuals add to learning? Visuals provide meaningful references for ideas, make abstract ideas more concrete and motivate students. Visuals also influence students to learn. Galbraith
How can visuals influence student learning? Visuals help direct attention to important concepts, repeat learning with different learning styles, help recall prior information and reduces the effort to learn. There are two ways to teach visual literacy. Galbraith
Two approaches to teach visual literacy Decoding- interpreting and creating meaning from visuals Encoding- creating visual presentations Encoding and decoding are needed while thinking about the six different types of media. Galbraith
