REMINDERS Ø After choosing a question, make your sketches (after research) based on your chosen theme for your Reflective Journal. Ø Complete questions ONLY for your TWO Expressive Forms. Ø Take photos at every stage to document your process for completing each question. Ø Complete your preliminary studies for each completed question (Exception: Drawing). EXPRESSIVE FORM A- DRAWING INSTRUCTIONS: Answer one (1) of the following questions. Drawing must be done from observation. Use any drawing medium, such as pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, crayon pastels or any combination of drawing media. Give consideration, where applicable, to variety in form, shape, size and texture. 1. Draw an arrangement of Visual Arts tools. The arrangement must include artist’s paintbrushes of varying sizes stored in glass jar, a box of crayons or coloured pencils, a sponge, and a piece of coloured fabric. 2. Draw an arrangement for a fruit ‘CHOW’. The arrangement must include fruit of choice, 2 hot peppers, head of garlic, grater, salt and pepper shakers. EXPRESSIVE FORM B- PAINTING AND MIXED MEDIA INSTRUCTIONS: Answer one (1) of the following questions. Produce a collage, painting or any representational or abstract composition based on ONE of the following themes. Use any medium and / or combination of media, materials and techniques. EXPRESSIVE FORM C- GRAPHIC AND COMMUNICATION DESIGN INSTRUCTIONS: Answer one (1) of the following questions. Use either black and white or any combination of black and white and colour. Preliminary studies and a statement on the artwork MUST accompany the finished piece. Where computer-aided software is used (such as Photoshop, Corel Draw or Illustrator) the work MUST be presented in the form of a hard copy with the hardware and software used clearly acknowledged. Evidence of all original images, artwork or resource images MUST also be submitted. A digital device with the stages of preparatory work saved MUST be submitted along with the hard copy. 1. Design and produce an A 2 size (45 cm x 60 cm) poster for your school entitled “Clean Hands”. 2. Design and produce CD jacket for the band Phenominal, with the album’s name being – “Luv Life”. EXPRESSIVE FORM D- PRINTMAKING INSTRUCTIONS 1: Choose one (1) of the following questions. After research, complete different thumbnails. If colour will be used, colour your thumbnail using colour pencils. 1. Beautiful World 2. Joy and Sorrow 3. Fantasy INSTRUCTIONS 2: Upon school reopening. Use printing ink that is quick-drying and any printmaking technique or combination of techniques suitable for printing paper. Produce an EDITION of THREE prints, not less than 20 cm wide, in black and white OR in colour for ONE of the following themes. EXPRESSIVE FORM E-TEXTILE DESIGN AND MANIPULATION INSTRUCTIONS: Answer one (1) of the following questions. Preliminary studies and a statement on the artwork MUST accompany the finished piece. 1. Using the features of earth element fire and water as inspiration, design a motif and produce an all-over design on 1 metre of fabric. Use any TWO surface decoration techniques and a minimum of THREE colours in your design. 2. Design and produce two (2) different panels for a pillow case for a day care centre. EXPRESSIVE FORM F – SCULPTURE AND CERAMICS INSTRUCTIONS: Answer one (1) of the following questions. Use any appropriate technique such as modelling, carving, assembling or construction and other suitable material such as wood, wire or plaster of Paris to design and execute a work not more than 30 cm at its LARGEST dimension. The work must be based on ONE of the following questions. 1. Using any construction technique or combination of techniques, design and produce one (1) decorative and utilitarian object. Incorporate aspects of your culture in the design. The piece should not exceed 30 cm x 15 cm. 2. Design and produce a sculpture for an exhibition. The design MUST be based on theme “Renewed Earth”. EXPRESSIVE FORM G – LEATHERCRAFT INSTRUCTIONS: Answer one (1) of the following questions. Preliminary studies and a statement on the artwork MUST accompany the finished piece 1. Design and produce a set of THREE (3) key rings based on theme “New Earth”. The surface decoration for TWO (2) of the key rings MUST be done using carving and stamping techniques. The third key ring MUST utilize built-up layers of leather to create a three-dimensional effect. Each key ring must have a different design. 2. Design and produce a laptop sleeve or case using various types of natural leather and appropriate stitching or lacing techniques. Emphasis should be placed on natural colour and texture of the materials used. EXPRESSIVE FORM H- FIBRE AND DECORATIVE ARTS INSTRUCTIONS: Answer one (1) of the following questions. Preliminary studies and a statement on the artwork MUST accompany the finished piece 1. Design and produce a woven wall hanging based on theme “Creatively Green”, demonstrating AT LEAST THREE weaving techniques. The piece should NOT exceed 30 cm × 40 cm and MUST be removed from the loom for presentation. 2. Repurpose AT LEAST TWO shoe boxes with covers of different sizes to be used as a decorative centerpiece at the opening of an Art Gallery. 3. Using papier mâché, design and create a sculpture for the foyer of an environmental office. The sculpture is entitled “Turtle’s First Breath” and should NOT exceed 30 cm in any direction.
