Biography Viktor Vasnetsov was born May 15, 1848 in the Russian village Lopyal Urzhum county Vyatka province, the son of an Orthodox priest. He studied in Vyatka religious school (1858 -1862) and then in the Vyatka Theological Seminary. He took drawing lessons at the gymnasium teacher drawing NG Chernyshev.
