UDPATE: Veterans Choice Program Effective of April 19, 2017, ü The President signed a law that removes the August 7, 2017 expiration date and allows VA to utilize funding dedicated to the Veterans Choice Program (VCP) until it is exhausted. ü No Change to eligibility requirements ü ****Veteran residence is more than 40 miles from the closest VA health care facility by way of driving distance. ü Veteran has been told they will need to wait more than 30 days from the preferred date or the date medically determined by their physician. ü Veteran needs to travel by plane or boat to the VA medical facility closest to their home. ü Veteran faces a geographic challenge
