Overview: VESL Lab • Meets Mon-Thurs 12: 00 -1: 15 pm �Multi-level ESL, all computer ability levels �Hybrid class (USA Learns, Rosetta Stone) �Curriculum integrates technology and ESL Lessons �Students work at their own pace, completing assignments within their abilities �ESL software and keyboarding software �Teams help each other �Current attendance: 31 students, open enrollment

Goals of the VESL Lab �The goals of the lab are to: • engage students in computer-based language practice • build students’ computer skills and keep them current with technology • develop appropriate soft skills for the workplace • practice job readiness skills • help students achieve personal goals through differentiated instruction • provide curriculum that is current, relevant, engaging, and authentic

Employability Skills �English communication �technology skills �Soft employability skills such as participation, cooperation, attendance, organization �Job readiness – filling job applications, job interview questions, practice resume, cover letter, thank you letter, researching about a job

Blended Course �The lab has been converted to a "blended course" as students complete the online component, USA Learns 1, 2, and 3, from home. Rosetta Stone packets are also available.

Weekly Check Lists �Students compile and present their work in a portfolio after completing self-assessment surveys created in Survey Monkey �Students can earn a certificate of completion upon completing 80% of the work
