Verbs As our hero, Action Verb, told us a verb is an action. Important things you need to know about verbs: • You can’t have a sentence without one! • They describe an action OR • They describe a state of being (am, be, is, have)

Linking Verbs am, is, are, was, were, be, has been, might have been, like.
