We will cover the following: • Getting the basics right - Hand hygiene - Respiratory hygiene - Symptom awareness - Isolation advice and testing • Covid Secure buildings • PPE

Preventing the spread of coronavirus - community • Direct contact with respiratory droplets (being coughed and sneezed on) Or • through contact with contaminated surfaces And • then touching mouth, nose and eyes There is some evidence present in faeces too

Basics Right – Hand Hygiene wash your hands for 20 seconds, using soap and water or hand sanitiser • when you get to work or arrive home • after you blow your nose, cough or sneeze • before you eat or handle food

Basics Right – Respiratory Hygiene • Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze • Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands

Basics Right – Symptom Awareness The main symptoms of coronavirus are: • a high temperature –feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature) • a new, continuous cough –coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste –you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal If you have any of the symptoms: Stay at home to self-isolate Book a test – search ‘book a test NHS’ – Drive Through Call NHS 111 or visit the website https: //111. nhs. uk/

Possible and Confirmed cases Confirmed/Positive Case – Lab confirmed test (nasal and throat swab) Suspected/Possible Case – High clinical suspicion • High temperature/fever • Cough (new and continuous) • Loss of taste and smell GET TESTED

Basics Right – Isolation Advice & Testing • As soon as you experience symptoms you must self-isolate for at least 7 days • This means you and all household members must remain at home • Do not go outside your home for any reason i. e. to work, school, or public areas, and do not use public transport or taxis. • Order a test immediately by ringing 119 or visit www. nhs. uk/coronavirus • If positive, complete self-isolation of 7 days, and household members must continue to self-isolate for 14 days • Further Guidance: https: //www. gov. uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works

Covid Secure Buildings – th Service Users before 4 July Clients/ service users can only access 1: 1 services on-site – no group activities can be held in enclosed spaces Groups of 6 can meet outdoors

‘Premises such as activity clubs, community centres and youth clubs can reopen, and will need to follow covid-19 Secure guidelines. You should only attend these in groups of up to two households (your support bubble counts as one household). We recognise that you may know other people in these venues but you should try to limit your social interaction to your own household or one other, to help to control the virus’.

Covid Secure Buildings: Workplaces – Community Centres reopening 4 th July Returning to working on site - Carry out a covid-19 risk assessment to ensure that you can do the following… 1. Minimise the number of people in the building 2. Legal action can be taken gatherings of more than 30 people (exemptions not known) 3. Help people to work from home 4. Stay 2 m apart other staff, volunteers and users 5. Need to ensure enough people are trained to keep service users safe – Covid secure measures 6. Need to reconfigure the building – flow to minimise contact and avoid pinch points 7. Handwashing and enhanced cleaning

Covid Secure Buildings - Charity Shops • Receiving donated goods - Restricting days for receiving donations - Wait 72 hrs before opening bags • Volunteers must be aware and symptom-free for 14 days • Hand & respiratory hygiene • Close changing rooms • PPE – gloves /face covering • Perspex Screens – tills

Face coverings – enclosed spaces • Coming into close contact with people you do not normally meet (shops, hospitals and public transport 15 th June) • Consider – working in close proximity with older or vulnerable people to protect them • Once the face covering is on it stays on – touch it or take it off need to wash hands and put on a new one

PPE - Group Work from 4 th July No additional PPE is required As long as…. • Strict 2 m social distancing – restrict number according to room size • Hand respiratory hygiene • Symptom free • Self-isolation periods have been adhered to and individuals have been symptom free 48 hrs • Consider face coverings (to protect older and vulnerable people) • Re-think teas and coffee

PPE – 1: 1 Working (No Direct Contact) Risk assessment – can it be done remotely? Shielding - extremely clinically vulnerable (single use disposable gloves and surgical facemask) No Additional PPE is require • Confirmation that individual is symptom free • Maintain 2 m social distancing • Hand respiratory hygiene • Well ventilated room • Enhanced cleaning

PPE - Reception/Communal Areas • 2 m social distancing – floor markings • Closed door and appointments only • Groups – booking system • No waiting – remove any seating • Enhanced cleaning • Reception staffed – can’t maintain 2 m and working with possible/confirmed cases - fluid resistant face mask should be worn • Symptom awareness!

Public access to toilets • To prevent the spread of coronavirus (covid 19) avoid using public toilets where possible • Posters and stickers – e. g. close the lid before flushing, wash hands • Safe queueing, washing etc… (2 m distance) • Enhanced cleaning schedule and close facility whilst cleaning takes place • Staff undertaking cleaning must wear full PPE (gloves, aprons, fluid resistant face mask and eye protection)

No additional PPE • Brief transitory contact e. g. passing in a corridor • Child requires hands on care such as changing a nappy, toileting, support with feeding, first aid and/or displays behaviours such licking and spitting and has no symptoms • Service user/member of staff becomes unwell (covid-19 symptoms) maintain 2 m distance no contact • Cleaning toilets that are only used by staff

Additional PPE • Service user/member of staff becomes unwell (covid-19 symptoms) not able to maintain 2 m distance no contact • Cleaning workplaces and staff toilets when they have been used by someone who has become ill with covid-19 symptoms • Providing intimate care to an individual Full PPE - disposable gloves, disposable plastic apron, fluid resistant surgical facemask, eye protection
