Connectives Use connectives to extend your sentences: �however, although, but, as, so , while, when, and, because. . . . . E. g. The terrified man entered the dark and dismal room becomes The terrified man entered the dark and dismal room as screams could be heard in the distance.
Connectives Continued. . . �Connectives can sometimes be used at the start of the sentence, such as. . as, when, while. E. g. While the terrified man entered the dark and dismal room, screams could be heard in the distance.
Openers. Ly words often make good openers in stories. �Slowly, anxiously, suspiciously, quickly, wearily, amazingly. . . . E. g. The terrified man entered the dark and dismal room as screams could be heard in the distance. becomes Anxiously, the terrified man entered the dark and dismal room, as screams could be heard in the distance.
Punctuation!!! Remember to include a good range of Punctuation !, . . ? . ; �Semi-colons are used when 2 sentences are joined together for effect, because the second sentence explains the first in more detail.
