Varahamihira 505 -587 C. E Ø Popular Astronomer, Mathematician and astrologer. 6 th C. E Scientist. Ø son of Adityadasa. Born at Kapitha in Avanthi Desa or Malwa. He studied astronomy from his father who was an Astronomer Ø Siddhantas - earliest astronomical greek works Ø He concentrated five Siddhantas like Paulsia Siddhanta, Romaka Siddhanta, Vasishtha Siddhanta, Saura Siddhanta and Paitamalia Siddhanta into a single work called 'Pancha Siddantika' Ø one of the nine gems in the court of king Vikaramaditya in Avanti (Ujjain) modern Malwa region.

Ø His famous works Pancasiddantika, Brhajjataka Vivahapatala, Yogayatra, Brhadyatra and Brhat samhita. Ø Panca

Ø Panca siddahatika had eighteen chapters Ø his astrological work 'Brhajjataka' which followed most of the words from Greek origin. Ø Brhajjataka called as Horasastra in 26 chapters which include 384 slokas. Ø Vivaha patala mainly focused on martial horoscopy.
