What has to be done v Currently almost 80 institutions are members of the Cineca – ORCID consortium v Increase awareness of the benefits of having an open, international persistent identifier among researchers (it is not another administrative burden) for visibility, career, evaluation etc. v Populate the profiles! Still too many are unpopulated v Cleaning of Research ID and Scopus ID v Make the institution understand the advantage and support it v Publishers more active role: should embed author’s ORCID in the metadata when the manuscript is accepted
