Michel Legrand A three time Academy Award-winning French composer Michel Legrand (born February 24, 1932 in Paris) is a French musical composer, arranger, conductor, and pianist of Armenian descent. Legrand has composed more than two hundred film and television scores and several musicals and has made well over a hundred albums. He has won three Oscars (out of 13 nominations) and five Grammys and has been nominated for an Emmy. MICHEL LEGRAND FRIENDS ”ONCE IN A LIFETIME TRIBUTE “ “How do we keep the music playing? ” The concert will have some of the artists appearing in a documentary call Michel Legrand “Genius of Music”, containing the performances of Michel Legrand, Quincy Jones, Petula Clark, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Ginnette Reno; Patti Austin; Brian Stokes Mitchell and Barbara Streisand; song writers Alan and Marylyn Bergman, Sheldon Harnick and Carol Connors, narrated by Jon Voight. The concert will be a 50 th Anniversary tribute to the musical genius and friendship with Michel Legrand who produced, in the 77 years of his life, many popular songs and film scores winning three academy awards, one for “The Thomas Crown Affair” on for “Yentl” and one for the Summer of 42”. The total film scores numbers over 150. Tony Bennett alone filled Rockefeller Center recently for one week to sold out audiences thus we expect the same from this concert. The concert will be filmed in HD TV for later broadcast internationally, first on cable network or pay TV and then on PBS. The Documentary that serves as the basis of the concert, will be submitted for an Academy Award nomination August /September 2009 and be shown to the public on a limited basis in a theater for 7 days to qualify as a nominee. It will be distributed broadly after the nomination process and the awards ceremony in the Spring of 2010. We feel this will drive audiences to the concert as well. Along with the interviews of the artists mentioned above these additional artist will Be included in the foreign versions of the DVD giving their interviews, including Charles Aznavour, Claude Lelouch, Alan Delon, Nana Mouskouri, Georges Moustaki, Michel Fugain, and Gérard Lenorman. After the Academy Awards Ceremony both DVD’s and the two HDTV documentaries called the “Making of The Concert” and the making of the DVD” will be released through normal distribution channels in the U. S. and through foreign distribution channels through our partners in the distribution business. The concept of the concert is to create an event like that which took place in Los Angeles with the 3 Tenors (Pavarotti, Carrera, Domingo) or the Michel Legrand equivalent of the Rat Pack Act of friends paling around (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior, Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop). There are two premieres that will take place in order to promote the documentary “Genius of Music” and receive an Oscar Nomination qualification, one in NYC and the other in Los Angeles. Both premieres will be run as a red carpet event to view the screening of the documentary. Sponsors will receive banner spots at the event and also an opportunity to give away promotional material to market their business. (on the line of a “goodie bag”) for attendees of the event to receive. In addition to marketing during the event, we will have media/print/ internet and radio campaigns promoting the premiere which will benefit particular sponsors of the events.
