Hall Health Center Information Parents Need to Know (As good health is a pre-requisite for academic success)
Services and Activity Fee • Several prepaid services for students at Hall Health Center… – Unlimited visits with Consulting Nurses – One visit per quarter with a Dr. /NP for medical concerns – Crisis Intervention sessions
Services and Activity Fee • After-Hours Consulting Nurse (a telephone service for urgent medical problems) • Preventive counseling and contraceptive advice • Tobacco cessation program • e. Care (Electronic Medical Record)
Services and Activity Fee • Advice about concerns for HIV & STD exposures • Blood pressure screening and consultation • Access to the Wellness Resource Center
Immunizations • Measles requirement is often first contact with HHC • Many other vaccinations available, which are all voluntary • Examples: Influenza, Hepatitis, Tetanus, Varicella • Travel vaccines for study abroad
Meningococcal Vaccine • Fairly rare, but a very serious disease (can be fatal) • Vaccine is recommended by the American College Health Assn. (especially for students who will be living in a residence hall or Greek house • Insurance company may reimburse • Vaccine protects student for 3 -5 years
HHC Staff • All Dr. s/NPs are board certified (“Real Docs” in student terms, instead of residents and interns) • Health education part of each encounter • Providers really enjoy working with students • UW Medicine providers
Billing & Insurance Information • Billing for services beyond those SAF prepaid Done by UW Medicine, which has contracts with hundreds of health insurance companies • Insurance To find out if your company will cover healthcare costs at Hall Health Center, call your insurance company and give them our tax identification number (TIN): 91 -1220843.

Consent for Care • For students who will begin classes under the age of 18 • Form needs to be signed by a parent or legal guardian before your student can be treated • Available on our website (forms section)
