Key to Understanding i. Read Content and Grade Level Equivalence • Topics are foundational concepts taught in self-contained Lessons with built-in assessments. • Series are families of related Topics grouped together with a summative assessment. Series each have five to seven Topics. • Units are a batch of Series that fit together to complete a student’s understanding of related concepts. Units have one to eight Series. • Levels are all Units associated with the curriculum of a grade level (Grades K– 2). Level A = Units 1 to 4 Level B = Units 5 to 11 Level C = Units 12 to 15 3 Academic Planning & Analysis

Read students with completed placement screeners and software usage are included in Gains Analyses 1. Time of year impacts Gains reporting methods. Sept. –Oct. : One i. Read software session is sufficient. Nov. –March: 10 sessions are required. From April on: 20 sessions are required. Read Summary Metrics by School Software Sessions (Days) and Topics Completed by School • There approximately 100 Topics per Level; Levels are equivalent to the content of Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2. • Students in Level A typically complete Topics at a rate of one Topic per day (session). Students in Levels B & C take longer (one to three days per Topic) since the content requires greater cognitive effort to achieve fluency. 6 Academic Planning & Analysis
