DRIVER LICENSE DIVISION

Emergency Contact Database HB 21 Effective July 1, 2012 • Driver License Division is mandated to create and maintain an emergency contact database. • The database information is available to law enforcement officers on scene at a motor vehicle accident or emergency situation. • The information can only be used for emergency contact purposes and may not be used for criminal investigations

Review Examination Procedure The Driver License Division implemented new procedures for evaluating, restricting or removing a driving privilege. • Increased driver feedback • Increase consistency and continuity • Improved timeliness of resolution

DIVISION OF MOTOR VEHICLES

Modernization of DMV System • Starting in July 2012 • Roll-out date is October 2013

Legislative Issues • Six month registration option for passenger vehicles and street motorcycles • Martin Luther King special group plate

Business Partnerships • Renewal Express (Online Renewals) • On the Spot (OTS) Renewal Program with safety and emission stations • These two programs combined accounted for 52 percent of all renewals processed in calendar year 2011.

Business Partnerships • Self Plating Program • Dealers • Rental car agencies • Dismantlers • Service providers for rental car agencies and used car dealers • These business partners accounted for six percent of all subtransactions completed in calendar year 2011.

MOTOR VEHICLE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION

• Law enforcement division with 23 sworn police officers • Regulates the automotive industry including dealers, body shops, dismantlers, transporters, manufacturers, crushers, factories and distributors • Issued 3, 038 citations • Recovered 429 stolen vehicles with a value of approximately $3. 2 million.
