Welcome! • Transferring can be a very Intimidating and confusing process. You may be asking yourself where to start. Worry no longer! This handy little guide is here to help you find your direction.

Know Your Options First! • UTA offers a wide range of majors in relation to the STEM field! • Make sure that you know your options first before taking random classes so that you can graduate in the shortest amount of time. • Keep in mind that basic core classes will be common for almost all majors.

Common Classes • Many Engineering programs have the same common lower tier classes • Ex: Calculus I/II or Physics • Core classes will also be a part of every major so it is best to keep in mind that these classes are absolutely necessary. • Ex: English, History, Political Science

Freshman Transfer Requirements • There is a 60$ fee to apply at UTA. • For Less than 12 transferrable credit hours, you must have a minimum GPA of 2. 25. • For 12 transferrable credit hours, the minimum GPA requirement is 3. 0 • For 13 -23 transferrable credit hours, you must have a minimum 2. 25 GPA. • More information at http: //www. uta. edu/admissions/_downl oads/general/application-checklist. pdf

Freshman Transfer Checklist • Thoroughly complete an application form (essay questions are optional). • Include the non-refundable application fee of $60. 00 (They only accept checks, money orders, or credit cards). • Request that an official transcript be sent directly from your high school to the UT Arlington Office of Admissions. The transcript should show your rank in class and completed or expected graduation date.

Freshman Transfer Checklist (continued) • Ask for your official SAT and/or ACT scores to be sent directly to UT Arlington. These scores can be shown on your transcript or requested from your high school counselor. • Request that official transcripts from all colleges previously attended be sent directly to the UT Arlington Office of Admissions.

For Non-Freshman Transfers • If you have 24 or more transferrable credit hours, you must have a minimum GPA of 2. 25. • You must complete an application form. • You must include a non-refundable application fee of 60$.

Some tips! • Be aware of your resources. Tarrant County College offers free tutoring if you are ever struggling with your GPA. • If you are ever in doubt, contact an advisor to be sure you are following the right path! • Get the transfer guide for your specific major! It will save you time and money. • Don’t wait until the last minute to work towards transferring. The sooner you start, the better.

More Tips! • Try to keep your work and school balanced. • If you overload yourself with too much work or school, for example doing both full time, you will likely fall behind as you try to keep up with both. • Finishing your Associate Degree, will give a good impression to UTA as they will see you are determined to complete.

Know About Financial Aid Options • There are many scholarships and grants for those who are pursuing a degree in the STEM field. • Don’t wait to fill our your FAFSA, the sooner you get it done, the easier it will be on you. • In the next page we will show you one of these Scholarship options.

Louis Stoke Scholarship • Scholarship opportunity for minorities pursuing a STEM-related degree. • Available at UTA, UT Austin, UT Dallas, and more! • Must be a US citizen with permanent resident. • “Encourages minority US citizens and permanent residents to earn Baccalaureate degrees and pursue a graduate education in the state of Texas”.

For Non-Citizen Residents. • If you are a non-citizen resident you will not be eligible for FAFSA. • Instead, you will be required to fill out the TAFSA instead • The TAFSA is not available online so you will have to go the Financial Aid office to fill out the form. • TURN IN EVERYTHING EARLY, will save you the stress and headaches later on
