6. Write out an explanation of your visual. My visual is showing how Janine feels like an outsider among the women at work. The passage I chose is from before Janine starts lying. It helps us to understand why Janine started lying in the first place. In my picture Janine is smaller and off to the side to show she is not part of the group. She is thinking about what she could talk about, loneliness envelopes her like clothing. The other women are much bigger. I have used identical colours on them to show they are a group separate from Janine. They look gaudy and messy to show Janine sees them. She does not respect them, although she craves their attention. The words I chose highlight how Janine sees the situation and how she feels like these ladies would not be interested in what she has to say. Through these images, I have shown how Janine sees the other women at her work and how she does not fit in.

Copy it out neatly and double-spaced. “Caked lipstick and coffee, the clouds of smoke in the little conference room where they gather… They will talk of boyfriends and husbands and children. Even if she is prepared they wouldn’t care about what she knows now, the information on bears or the facts she can recite on botany, or Berlin. She would have nothing to say. ”
