Incident Details Ø On January, 14, 2014, a scrap metal recycler on Camano Island, was removing valves from abandoned cylinders. Ø Upon cutting into one of the cylinders, a release of up to 35 lbs of chlorine gas occurred to the neighborhood

Mat teams were called in to cap the cylinder using a chlorine emergency kit EPA was requested to perform air monitoring and remove the cylinder after the leak was capped VIPER-enabled instruments were deployed and continuously monitored ERRS was activated to perform removal operations ERRS sub was required due to extremely hazardous nature of removal scenario
