Before you begin…… Ø Be sure to sign in and specify which form of technology available you will be using Ø There should be no drinks or food items around any piece of equipment Ø Remember to use common sense and take care of the technology resources that are available, or they will be taken away

While using the computer and internet remember…… Ø Be sure you are only doing the assigned work and nothing else Ø Be considerate of others and use only the time you have been assigned Ø Use proper citation to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is wrong and the assignment will receive a zero Ø BE SMART

What not to do while using the computer and internet Ø Do not surf the internet or view any sites not related to the assignment Ø Do not check personal email Ø Do not use any instant messengers Ø Do not visit any chat rooms Ø Do not give out personal information Ø Do not plagiarize

Other Guidelines for computer use Ø Only use printer with permission from teacher Ø Do not download any pictures, files, etc. with out permission from teacher Ø Use proper judgment when evaluating internet resources. Be sure the source is reliable

Other forms of technology available Ø Microscopes l Dissecting scope • Be sure to clean after use • place back in closet after use l Compound Light microscope • Handle with extreme care • Clean after use These are expensive pieces of equipment and will be removed if improper use is observed

Other forms of technology available Ø Scales l Triple Beam Balance • Be sure it is set back to zero after use • Handle with care, using both hands to move l Electronic scale • Only to be used at the lab station • Do not attempt to move scale Ø Thermometers l Handle with care. They are made of glass and will break if not used correctly

Before you start…. Ø Review all school and class rules about proper technology use Ø Sign Technology Use Agreement Ø Have parent/guardian sign consent form Ø Remember, technology is a privilege and can be taken away
